(Quality for Assisted Reproductive Technologies in Switzerland) is an accreditation program of the medical associations SGRM and AGER for IVF laboratories.

QUARTS has been established to meet the requirements of the FMedV article 4.1.c whilst taking the particularities of IVF laboratories into account. According to the FMedV article 4.1.c, biological reproductive medicine laboratories must implement a quality management system “based on the ISO standards ISO/IEC 17025:2005 or ISO 15189:2012”. Since IVF laboratories differ considerably from other laboratories the mentioned ISO standard do not appear entirely sufficient for demonstrating that the necessary quality standards are met. This is why the medical associations SGRM and AGER have decided to develop their own accreditation program specifically designed for IVF laboratories. Thereby the ISO 17025 and ISO 15189 as well as the ESHRE guidelines have been considered accordingly.

The public expects the highest safety and quality standards for fertility treatment. Externally monitored quality is valued highly. With the accreditation label QUARTS laboratories can show their high level of quality and safety.
